Word of the Month: Haze
Posted by iblawg on October 9, 2006
If you must ask, the WOTM for last month was “marginalise”. Anyway, I found something interesting on the DOE’s website today.

Ironically-displayed on the DOE website was this VMY2007 ad, yknow, to supposedly promote Malaysia as a tourist destination. In the list you will see that the API index for Kuala Lumpur and Selangor fall mostly under “unhealthy” levels.
Well, surely the haze will be gone by the time 2007 comes lah so it’s fine. But it seems like the hazy-weather has become an annual routine for us now – like a season yknow. On some days the air quality is really bad as if there was an open burning somewhere down the road but knowing that the smoke actually came from Indonesia, just imagine how bad the situation actually is.
Meanwhile, our Indonesian friends say that they don’t have enough funds to put out the fires. As a result, they have conveniently “admitted defeat”, and turn to god instead.
“Only the rain can put out the fires. So, let us pray and hope to Allah for an immediate rain.”
I’m speechless. Anyway, hang in there, peeps.

Oh dear, haven’t they heard of the saying that God help those who help themselves first? Sigh!

Lol. Ahem. Well, thing is, while everybody believes that there is only one God, fact remains that there’re more than one belief.
Anyway I’m sure that there is something they can do despite running short on funds. Like requesting for help, rather than admitting defeat and “pray” for rain.
