Iblawg Discovers the Spirit of KL

At 4am sharp - 4th of May 2006 - the phone rang. We were deep asleep in Federal Hotel when the morning call came. We had barely 2 hours of sleep!

The bus left shortly after 5am for Dataran Merdeka, where the teams would be flagged off.

It was a hot, sunny day in KL and everyone was in a rush - to solve all the clues and complete every task.

Our team reached the final checkpoint in second place, at about 2pm. The first 5 teams that arrived would be allowed to present their findings.

We decided to do a sketch, in addition to a slideshow and a video presentation. But before that, everyone was treated to a buffet dinner at the hotel’s revolving restaurant at the top floor. It was awesome.

I think our presentation was what gave us the edge over other teams. Actually, we had already started preparing the slides and the video montage even before we reached the final checkpoint. Maybe it was just the right thing to do.

Team La Bamba, made up of four UTM (Skudai) friends, another one from UTAR, and myself. It was a really rewarding experience!

And the fact that we took home the grand prize of RM10K plus handphones and vouchers simply made it all the sweeter. [...]
